Judge II Light Booth
(2-3 week lead time on this item, ships direct from X-Rite)
The Judge II is a lighting booth that can be used for color evaluation under
specified lighting conditions. The Judge II features balanced light that
conforms to or exceeds international standards for visual evaluation of
color. The Judge II includes an elapsed time meter, "instant-on" capability
to eliminate warm up delays, and a membrane keypad for rapid switching
between illuminants with fingertip control.
Improve Color Rendering
By combining ultraviolet with the daylight source, the Judge II achieves the closest match to natural daylight available in a fluorescent source while delivering the highest Color Rendering Index (CRI) in the industry. The unique Seven-phosphor fluorescent daylight lamp technology of the Judge II renders color more accurately than typical three phosphor technology which accents blues and greens while suppressing reds. This results in less accurate color matches.
Increase Color Approvals With Multiple, Switchable Light Sources
Five different light sources provides the ability to detect metamerism, a phenomenon which occurs when colors appear to match under one set of viewing conditions but fail to match under another. And, the ultraviolet lamp can be used by itself or in combination with any of the light sources for the detection or evaluation of optical brighteners, whitening agents or fluorescent dyes and pigments. Whether you are matching textiles, plastics, printing, inks, dyes, paints or cosmetics, the many advanced features of the Judge II will help you make critical color decisions with greater ease and confidence.
Conforms To International Standards
The Judge II conforms to or exceeds all major international standards for the visual evaluation of color. These include ASTM D1729 for visual evaluation of color differences of opaque materials, ISO 3664 for illumination conditions for viewing reproductions, as well as DIN, AATCC and BSI standards.
The Judge II is supplied with a Certificate of Performance with traceability to NIST (National Institute of Standards
and Technology). We offer Preventive Maintenance and Certification Service for your Judge II viewing booth. This
factory authorized service has been established to provide you with the assurance that the system meets the specified
requirements for color rendering quality, which is essential for visual evaluation or color matching. Factory certification, which satisfies the requirements for ISO 9000, is recommended once a year.

Quick Guide to Light Sources
Daylight
D5000K (D50) – Noon sky daylight for graphic arts applications.
D6500K (D65) – Average north sky daylight for industrial color management,
as: automotive, consumer electronics, appliances, textile and
apparel, home furnishings and others. Specified by industry.
D7500K (D75) – North sky daylight for graphic arts pressroom applications, sorting and grading textile white goods, and produce evaluations.
Horizon
This source simulates early morning sunrise and late afternoon sunset. Commonly used in textile and automotive applications.
Cool White Fluorescent/TL84/U30/U35
Simulates office, in-store, or showroom floor lighting.
Incandescent
Simulates home and store accent lighting.
UV5X
Higher intensity (five times that of the sun) for detecting optical brighteners and fluorescent whitening agents in paper, textiles, and plastics.
UV
The amount of UV found in natural daylight for simulating the effects
of optical brighteners and fluorescent whitening agents on color.
Note: Macbeth system lamps do not contain UV wavelengths.
